User Modeling, Adaptation and Personalization

UMAP is the premier international conference for researchers and practitioners working on systems that adapt to their individual users, or to groups of users, and collect and represent information about users for this purpose. UMAP is the successor to the biennial User Modeling and Adaptive Hypermedia conferences that were merged in 2009. It is organized under the auspices of User Modeling Inc. in cooperation with ACM SIGIR, SIGCHI and SIGART and SIGWEB.

This year's 18th edition, UMAP 2010, will be held at the Hilton Waikoloa Village on the Kona side of the “Big Island” of Hawaii with additional student housing at the Aston Shorts at Waikoloa and the Aston Waikoloa Colony Villas.

The conference spans a wide scope of topics related to user modeling and personalization, including tailoring of search results, recommending products, Web usage mining and collaborative filtering. Please see the more detailed listing of conference topics. We are happy to announce our keynote speakers: Edward Chang (Google) and Stacy Marsella (University of Southern California).

Click on the following links for the conference program and the list of accepted papers. Order or read the UMAP 2010 proceedings (LNCS 6075) online at Springer.com. Poster and demo papers are in the UMAP 2010 adjunct proceedings (pdf, 3.54 MB).

Pictures of UMAP 2010 can be found in the Zenfolio albums of Maria Bielikova and Paul De Bra.

Join us next year as well: UMAP 2011 will take place from 11 till 15 July 2011 in Girona, Spain.
